Jim Jordan Called Out By Jake Tapper For Spreading ‘Wild Allegations’ On National Television

The White House and Republicans are in a full-on damage control mode following last week’s barrage of bombshells that prove, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that Donald Trump attempted to pressure Ukraine into investigating Joe and Hunter Biden for his own personal political gain.

That effort was spearheaded by Rudy Giuliani, Trump’s private attorney, who has no authority to conduct official US business, let alone influence US foreign policy or participate in an effort to withhold congressionally approved military aid to a foreign country.

The rough “transcript” of Trump’s call with Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky was a disaster for the president, who didn’t seem to appreciate how damning it really was, despite White House officials having (by their own admission this week) sequestered it away in a code-word computer system normally reserved for calls that contain sensitive national security issues. The whistle-blower complaint itself was even worse for the White House.

On Sunday, notorious imbecile Jim Jordan made the extremely ill-advised decision to show up on CNN’s State of the Union with Jake Tapper.

It was an unmitigated disaster.

Jordan – famous for shamelessness – resorted to a string of rambling “Whataboutisms”, ranting breathlessly about everything from Hunter Biden to the Steele dossier in a frantic effort to avoid answering straightforward questions about the incontrovertible fact that the President of the United States solicited foreign interference in the 2020 election.

The first thing you should note – and we’ve been over this before – is that no matter what you may read on fringe web portals, and no matter what Fox tries to tell you, and no matter how many absurd campaign videos the president tweets out, there is no credible evidence to support the contention that Joe Biden’s efforts to have the prosecutor in question removed were primarily motivated by a desire to enrich his son.

One would be entirely justified in harboring skepticism about the idea that the elder Biden had no conception of the extent to which the whole thing was a net positive for a family member. Indeed, we know the Obama administration was wary of the potential conflict and we also know that Biden warned his son to make sure “you know what you’re doing” in Ukraine.

But the vice president’s efforts were entirely in keeping with official US policy at the time, not to mention in line with the international community’s anti-corruption stance.

Allow us to reiterate: The prosecutor in question was targeted by the US for not investigating corruption. Trump and Giuliani are literally trying to tell Americans that black is white and up is down. Those are the facts. And Tapper underscored as much to Jordan. Here’s the clip:

After Tapper reminds Jordan that the US effort to get the prosecutor at the heart of Trump’s conspiracy theory fired was rooted in the Obama administration’s desire to stamp out corruption, Jordan incredibly tries to call an objective retelling of history “gymnastics”, to which an incredulous Tapper pushes back “Sir, it’s not gymnastics, it’s facts”.

And Tapper wasn’t done with Jim.

“You’d think somebody who has been accused of things in the past year or two would be more sensitive to throwing out wild allegations”, Jake pressed.

Jordan then tried to claim that his totally unfounded remarks were themselves facts, only to stutter and stammer, before Tapper finally delivered the definitive assessment. “The prosecutor was not pursuing corruption. That’s why the entire West wanted him fired, including anti-corruption activists in Ukraine!”

There is no way around this. Jim Jordan went on national television Sunday and lied to the American people in an effort to deflect from the account of Trump’s call with Zelensky, as released by the White House itself.

In the process, he pushed totally unfounded allegations about Joe Biden, and, more brazen still, implicitly suggested that the entire Western world was in on a conspiracy to help Hunter Biden make $50,000/month.

Of course, the real tragedy in all of this is that CNN even allowed Jim on the air. There is no place for this in a respectable democracy. These are lies, plain and simple. And they are being foisted on gullible demographics who Republicans like Jordan know do not have the wherewithal or the desire to understand the facts.
