Admit It: You’re A Yield Curve Apologist, Aren’t You?
“Well, I might not know much, but one thing that has gotten me into more trouble is to assume markets will play out neatly according to a schedule.”
“Well, I might not know much, but one thing that has gotten me into more trouble is to assume markets will play out neatly according to a schedule.”
“Tightening hurts all we have done.”
Waiting on intervention that never seems to come.
“We were focused on staving off disaster.”
“The market’s having a hard time digesting the whole change in globalization.”
“Although every bone in my body wants to sell this market. I … (and I can’t believe I am writing this)… am petrified this trade is so obvious, it can’t be right.”
Boy, I’ll tell you what, Fox News is having one helluva day when it comes to cramming lies down the throat of the American public.
Probably more than you wanted to know, but hey: “more cowbell”, right?
One bank has a message for you…
And that’s the week.
“Think of oxygen: if it became scarce we would pay an enormous premium today for it as we don’t need it tomorrow if we don’t have it today.”

That didn’t go so well.
This was just the kind of day that makes you dread the rest of the week.
“…I just don’t think they’re going to be realized.”
“In the last week of January, as equities went on yet another run, a client who had been waiting to buy the dip called us with an exasperated query.”
“Since the rules of arithmetic apparently have not yet been “disrupted”, AMZN’s implied multiple on operating free cash flow has erupted from an already frisky 39X to a completely absurd 120X.”
The bottom fell out.
“We’ve come too far!”
The screens are red. Might need to reboot.
“…a decision to invest today has to rely on the belief that ‘it’s different this time.'”
You’ll forgive us for saying this (actually you won’t if you’re a crypto proponent) but it kind of feels like this is the beginning of the end for the cryptocurrency craze.
“I don’t know if they are trying to show Trump who is boss ahead of trade talks, or if there is some other game theory tactic at work. Either way, be careful assuming this is some market shift China announced ahead of time out of the goodness of their hearts.”
Here’s something else to worry about.
