‘Adam Schitt’, ‘Go Home!’ And Other Highlights From Trump’s Sunday Twitter Escapades

Donald Trump is furious on Sunday.

If you’re wondering what the President is furious about, the answer is apparently “everything” because his Twitter feed is an absolute dumpster fire.

For about a week after the midterms, the mainstream media was amused by the fact that the President stopped talking about the caravan “invasion”. The implication was that the “invasion” narrative was nothing more than an election ploy, designed to whip the Roseanne base into a xenophobic frenzy.

That characterization was obviously correct. Trump’s pre-election strategy revolved almost entirely around perpetuating the notion that America was under siege and that Honduras was hell-bent on capturing Texas and Arizona under the command of General George Soros who, to let the Right-wing blogosphere tell it, was bankrolling a hostile army.

Trump managed to convince the Pentagon to go along with this charade and before anybody knew what had happened, the U.S. had almost as many active-duty troops on the southern border as the military has stationed in Afghanistan.

The President also suggested that troops should “consider rocks rifles”, which effectively meant the men and women of the armed forces had the green light to shoot migrants who threw stones at them.

The cost to taxpayers of that deployment: Roughly $220 million.

‘Consider It A Rifle’: Trump Says He Told Military To Shoot Rock-Throwing Migrants

Late last week, the administration adopted an interim immigration rule that effectively makes it impossible for anyone who crosses the border illegally to claim asylum. That policy was announced by new Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker (who is fighting to convince America he isn’t going to shutter the Mueller probe) and Kirstjen Nielsen (who may or may not actually have a job).

In Draconian Decree, Trump Sets Asylum Bar At ‘Reasonable Fear Of Torture’ For Immigrants Who Cross Border Illegally

Well, on Sunday, Trump served notice that even if the migrant “invasion” was merely an election ploy, he isn’t going to quit talking about it, especially if he thinks he can use it to try and extort money for his wall which, in case it isn’t clear enough after two years, is never going to be built.

“The Mayor of Tijuana, Mexico, just stated that ‘the City is ill-prepared to handle this many migrants, the backlog could last 6 months’ [and] likewise, the U.S. is ill-prepared for this invasion, and will not stand for it”, Trump tweeted, before (again) equating migrants with “crime and big problems” and screaming at them to “Go home!”

He went on to drive home the points delineated in his new asylum decree. “Catch and Release is an obsolete term, it is now Catch and Detain”, the President declared. He then proceeded to repeat the conspiracy theory mentioned above. “Illegal Immigrants trying to come into the U.S.A., often proudly flying the flag of their nation as they ask for U.S. Asylum, will be detained or turned away”, he said. That’s a reference to the following absurd Friday tweet:

Isn’t it ironic that large Caravans of people are marching to our border wanting U.S.A. asylum because they are fearful of being in their country – yet they are proudly waving their country’s flag. Can this be possible? Yes, because it is all a BIG CON, and the American taxpayer is paying for it!

Note to immigrants: All you have to do to fool Trump is fly the American flag on your way here.

But the worst Trump tweet of the day came when the President gave Adam Schiff a new nickname. Take it away, sir:

schitt

Got that? Adam Schiff is now Adam Sh*t. That, according to the leader of the free world.

Unfortunately for Trump, Adam Schiff will be intelligence committee chairman under the Democratic House.

Earlier this week, Adam said he’ll investigate Trump for abuse of power in relation to his targeting of the Washington Post and CNN.

“Oh Schitt.”
