This is developing…
Secretary of State Rex Tillerson just addressed the media in Florida with regard to the administration’s “options” for action in Syria.
As we’ve documented extensively, Trump must now choose between “disappointing” Moscow and acting to prevent atrocities in Syria’s six-year civil war.
Here are the bullet points:
- The chemical attacks horrified all of us
- No doubt that Assad and the regime responsible for attack
- Russian government needs to carefully consider support for Assad regime
- Assad’s fate now uncertain
- There could be “political process that leads to Assad leaving”
- Assad “has no role” in Syria’s future

This is a remarkable break with what UN Ambassador Nikki Haley said with regard to Assad just days ago.
This administration only acts in ways that will benefit itself. The Bannon/Kushner/Tillerson/Haley team can’t figure out what will benefit them. Thus they don’t know what to do.
Poor babies.
