Donald Trump got the message. He’s not welcome in London.
Or at least that’s how mayor Sadiq Khan is spinning the President’s decision to cancel his trip to the city. Here’s the tweet:
Many Londoners have made it clear that Donald Trump is not welcome here while he is pursuing such a divisive agenda. It seems he’s finally got that message. This reinforces what a mistake it was for Theresa May to rush and extend an invitation of a state visit in the first place. pic.twitter.com/lNaQGx9iBw

Overnight, as part of a series of tweets apparently aimed at distracting the nation from what he allegedly said about African and Latin immigrants in the Oval Office on Thursday, Trump “explained” why he felt like he needed to cancel what would have been his first trip to the UK as president. To wit:
Reason I canceled my trip to London is that I am not a big fan of the Obama Administration having sold perhaps the best located and finest embassy in London for “peanuts,” only to build a new one in an off location for 1.2 billion dollars. Bad deal. Wanted me to cut ribbon-NO!

Got that? It had nothing to do with his ongoing feud with the above-mentioned Sadiq Khan and nothing to do with the backlash that accompanied his egregious decision to retweet anti-Muslim videos originally posted by Jayda Fransen:
You’ll recall that those retweets quite literally led several MPs to call for Trump’s arrest.

Trump took that rather unfortunate episode a step further and lashed out at Theresa May directly for criticizing him. Or at least he thought he did. Here’s what he tweeted in late November in response to May calling him “wrong”:
Of course that didn’t work because that’s not Theresa May’s Twitter handle – @theresamay is this person:
And on, and on, and on. You get the idea. Trump has made a complete ass of himself and nobody wants him in the UK for any reason whatsoever. In fact, more than 1.8 million people signed a petition to keep Trump away from the Queen.
Trump’s February “working visit” (as distinct from the state visit the petition refers to) had not been officially announced but it was expected next month. Or at least it was expected until Friday when, much to London’s relief, Trump said he’s not coming.
Again, Trump’s decision definitely had nothing to do with Khan or the fact that the British people hate Trump. Rather, it’s all about Obama. Or so Trump says.
But here’s the problem: the plan to move that embassy from Mayfair to Nine Elms in London was first reported in October 2008, when George W Bush was still president.
The current embassy building in Grosvenor SquareCiting is set to be converted into a luxury hotel by Qatar’s SWF which bought the site.
So what the actual fuck is Trump talking about?
Spoiler alert: nothing. This has no connection to Barack Obama whatsoever. None. He’s obfuscating and trying to make it seem like he wasn’t effectively uninvited to the city.
His invitation for an official state visit still stands although we would not be entirely surprised if he decided to turn it down because after all, who wants to visit a “shithole” country like Britain anyway?

The continued ignoring of trump’s lying and ignorant blunders and down right evil by the Republicans in Washington will eventually lead to a far more serious event! Someone will be killed or some other tragic event will occur. Trump must be removed from office asap. America has had enough of this bullshit.
Sen. Dick Durbin, the only Democrat in the meeting with trump and his Republican cowards, is the only man to speak out and confirm trump’s behavior and his words. It is reprehensible that not any Republican has made an honest statement about this — and Ryan’s “very unfortunate” is ridiculous!
And trump’s lies about this London trip cancellation and going so far as to blame Obama for something that happened before Obama was even in office and NOT ONE REPUBLICAN has a comment… none of them should remain in office, none of them.
Lets not forget that 1/3 of Americans continue to agree with the Donald. And yes, that is scary.
