It’s my view that the jobless nightmare will change the current attitude of “lives matter more than the economy” to “there must be a way of living with this disease and keep life functioning”.
Society will begin to evaluate the death rate of the elderly and infirm (I being one of this group) against the death rate due to despair, stress, drug and alcohol abuse, domestic violence and suicide. These are well known phenomena of recessions.
The “lets get back to work by Easter” movement will grow, and that’s probably a good thing.
FYI: I live in Washington state and tried filing for unemployment last week, but hit a technical snag with online registration, so, I’ve been patient with not being able to get any help or support with their overwhelmed system. I just found a link to get on a list for a callback, and although the page doesn’t allow me to upload anything, the date for a return call was April 25! Hence. Any unemployment values being put forth are most likely highly under sampled and nowhere close to reality. Their system is broken as the stock market and economy. If this like a snowstorm, I’d hate to see a blizzard
