Donald Trump Is Cordially Invited To Attend First Public Impeachment Hearing Next Week

The House Judiciary Committee plans to hold a public impeachment hearing for Donald Trump on December 4, and guess who’s invited?

Trump!

“I have… written to President Trump to remind him that the Committee’s impeachment inquiry rules allow for the President to attend the hearing and for his counsel to question the witness panel”, Jerry Nadler said in a statement, adding that “at base, the President has a choice to make: he can take this opportunity to be represented in the impeachment hearings, or he can stop complaining about the process”.

It’s nice of Jerry to present the issue that way, but we all know that’s not how Trump will pitch it to his base. Rather, he’ll likely decry the whole thing as a “sham” on the way to snubbing the proceedings, and then claim he wasn’t afforded due process.

“I hope that he chooses to participate in the inquiry, directly or through counsel, as other Presidents have done before him”, Nadler said.

The hearing is called: “The Impeachment Inquiry into President Donald J. Trump: Constitutional Grounds for Presidential Impeachment” and will feature a group of constitutional scholars in order to help inform the discussion over whether Trump’s actions are, in fact, “high crimes and misdemeanors.”

Nadler is set to receive a written report from Adam Schiff and the House Intelligence committee  summarizing key findings after weeks of testimony from a parade of current and former officials, all of whom have either implicated Trump or, at the least, backed up the allegations found in the whistle-blower complaint at the heart of the probe.

You can read our full, exhaustive coverage of the two-month-old proceedings here.

Trump was given a deadline. The president has until 6 pm on Sunday to let the committee know whether he plans to show up for his own political funeral.

The full letter from Nadler to Trump can be found below.

Meanwhile, Trump pardoned the National Thanksgiving Turkey. Congrats to “Butter”.

Too bad he can’t do the same for himself.

  1. I’m sure trump would rather he be given a few slow/soft pitches on fox news versus facing the music — much like he did during the booing at World Series! I think we can depend on the orange cancer to look more and more foolish and corrupt in the next few weeks.

As you may know, the House of Representatives has begun a formal impeachment inquiry to determine whether or not to bring impeachment charges against President Trump. Do you approve or disapprove of this impeachment inquiry?

  2. Re: link above and poll results.

Just read several headlines through Goggle news and found several links to articles like this:

Another poll shows impeachment helping Trump

Trump makes a case that support for impeachment is falling

QU Poll: Trump’s approval rate rises after impeachment

President Trump’s Impeachment Inquiry Won’t Help Win Back

So I go to the first page — and they fabricate the published results and don’t provide a link to the actual poll results!! This is what is so amazing, i.e., the on the ground reality of what voters are thinking, is twisted into a pro-trump campaign rallying cry by a very active effort to sling mud at the impeachment inquiry. Is it manipulative to lie and bait stupid people, who don’t verify information — are the trump followers literally retarded, to a point where they can’t look at polling results and instead accept anything fox news or a pro-trump website tells them? Politics doesn’t have to be fair, but it still looks a lot like Russian election interference or at least very shoddy journalism. I shouldn’t be surprised by any of this, but it’s like watching a game run by cheaters.

  3. Because I attended a Trump campaign rally in 2016 for fun, I still get at least one e-mail a day from the Trump campaign–and often they include links to participate in a “poll” like that (“Are you happy with the job that President Trump is doing?” “Do you think the Democrats should stop this sham inquiry now?”). Unfortunately, participation isn’t anonymous, so I’ve declined the offer.
