Earlier Friday, Murkowski was a "no" on cloture, and while Collins, Flake and Manchin were all in the "yes" camp for the procedural vote, there was still quite a bit of speculation around what exactly Collins planned to say in

  1. My take is if they can’t get Kavanaugh in the voters will rebel against the Republicans because they can’t get anything accomplished either

  2. I thought H was above hysterics. The Supreme Court is not going to overturn Roe. I could explain why this is case, but why bother. You can’t reason with hysterical people but it is what it is. Collins was a model of what we need in the Senate. I’ll take 49 more like her any day.

  3. I am a right leaning independent. I will contribute a little $ to whoever runs against Collins in 2020. Kavanaugh is not a conservative, he is a typical modern blood and deficits republican.

  4. The real reason why Trump refused to abandon Kavanaugh’s nomination is the upcoming case of Gamble v. United States which would give him the ability to protect his allies from state prosecution using a presidential pardon. The case is examining whether or not a subsequent prosecution by a state, after being prosecuted for the same crime by the feds, constitutes double jeopardy. If the supremes rule that states are prohibited from prosecuting people for crimes that they’ve already been prosecuted for by the feds, Trump can prevent states from going after folks like Roger Stone or Paul Manafort by pardoning them at the federal level.

  5. I’m proud of Lisa. I realize that her position might have been cooked behind the set in order for her to be praised by the Native American voter that saved her bacon not long ago. It’s quite possible that leadership gave her an out, knowing they had it in the can without her vote. BUT! I’m trying to retrieve my faith in the process…..

  6. Wow! Once again President Dennison scores bigly. Because of him we will have the only high court in the world which can count not one, but two (alleged) sexual preditors among their membership. Another record for the administration.

  7. Now, every one of the 49 Democrat Senators need to also request equal time to explain which way they will vote, and why. Collins speech was nothing more than a Republican anti Democrat piece of electioneering.
