Trump Accidentally Opposes His Own Surveillance Bill After Fox Confuses Him With Morning Broadcast

A certain someone had a senior moment this morning after overdosing on Fox & Friends during “Executive Time.”

At exactly 7:33 a.m., Donald Trump took to Twitter to oppose the House bill reauthorizing the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) after Fox quite literally asked him to come out against it:

That’s the Fox segment, and here’s Trump doing exactly what was demanded of him by his “friends” at Fox:

FISA

The problem: the Trump administration has for months been lobbying Congress to reauthorize the key 2008 surveillance law. Hell, they even put out a press release yesterday that directly contradicts Trump’s tweet:

FISA2

“The president’s alarm was unfortunate, since the Trump administration strongly supports reauthorization of this law,” NY Magazine wrote on Thursday, adding that “it has sent its highest-ranking security officials to lobby Congress for reauthorization, and reiterated its endorsement of the law as recently as last night.”

Apparently, Trump has fallen hook, line and sinker for the “deep state” meme, so much so that he is now accidentally contradicting official statements emanating from his own White House just hours after the press secretary released them.

Needless to say, this is just further evidence to support the underlying premise of Michael Wolff’s controversial new book (which, incidentally, just topped the bestseller list).

This President has absolutely no idea what he’s doing and he’s taking his cues directly from Fox. In this case, the tweet shown above clearly suggests that Trump is completely in the dark about what his administration is up to on Capitol Hill and indeed, he doesn’t seem to be aware of the statement shown above disseminated by his press secretary last night.

Any questions?

If so, please direct them to Trump’s new tweet which indicates someone tapped him on the shoulder:

    1. are you serious? if you had just spent the last four months aggressively lobbying for a renewal of a law that decreased the speed limit would you wake up on the very morning when that speed limit law was just about to be renewed and say “this is the same bullshit law that got me a speeding ticket”?

don’t be obtuse. you know damn well what’s so stupid about that tweet.

  1. Since Trump is taking his cues from Fox News, wouldn’t it be prudent to make sure Fox News isn’t taking it’s cues from Russia? Surveillance Bill needed here!

  2. I love the end of the last tweet: Get Smart! As in….Agent Maxwell Smart?? aka Trump’s new head of Foreign Intelligence and Investigating Fake News?? “Get me Agent 86! NOW!”

I will surely find myself randomly laughing at this thought hours from now.

  3. This was a pretty serious goof, and obvious about-face by Trump, right after his “I’ m a stable genius” declaration. He won’t be able to keep this out of the news cycle!

  4. not to mention that his tweet — “This is the act that may have been used, with the help of the discredited and phony Dossier, to so badly surveil and abuse the Trump Campaign by the previous administration and others?” — is completely based on his delusions and lies! fucking moron.

  5. As Ricky Roma (Al Pacino – GlenGarry Glenross) articulated…

“… everybody lives by his wits in this business… you don’t open your mouth until you know what the shot is… who gave you the idea that you can work with men…. you company man… you f…ing child…”
