Sputnik Under FBI Investigation; Former Employee Turns Over ‘Thousands’ Of Documents

Regular readers know Sputnik.

Sputnik is what would happen if you hired yourself about 30 circus clowns, 2 photoshop whizzes, 3 KGB agents, and a web developer, and made yourself a Kremlin-sponsored propaganda site that, based on the color scheme, thinks it’s always Halloween.

Here’s a fun screen grab that looks like it walked out of an undergraduate graphic design class:

Sputnik

To be clear, Sputnik is a standing joke. Even more so than RT. No one takes it seriously. Its sole purpose for existing is to sow doubt and spread propaganda to Western audiences that might not be getting their daily dose of Kremlin-sponsored brainwashing from other outlets.

The reporting is absolutely laughable. Here’s an excerpt from a post we ran earlier this year lampooning Sputnik’s bungled attempt to push the Syria false flag chemical attack narrative:

The crack squad of “Putin-litzer” prize-winning investigative reporters over at Sputnik have uncovered a nefarious plot involving, in order:

  • al-Jazeera;
  • a band of “stringers;”
  • 30 fire engines;
  • an unidentified number of ambulances;
  • 70 local residents (including “children”, who are apparently in on it — sneaky little bastards)
  • and some “screaming” social media co-conspirators

And can you guess what they’re doing?

Why they’re framing Bashar al-Assad and Vladimir Putin by staging a fake chemical attack, that’s what they’re doing!

And do you know who’s behind this?

Well, al-Jazeera obviously, but it’s — and this is an actual quote — “at the separate command of a mastermind.”

mastermind

This “info” — and again, this is an actual quote — was “confirmed via several channels” and “appears to be ordered from a European country.”

[One thing that was evidently not “confirmed” by any “channels” was Sputnik’s capacity to write proper English.]

This according to “unnamed” sources who would only trust this sensitive information to a reliable outlet like Sputnik.

Here’s the screengrab:

Farce

When you’re done laughing, recall that recently, Sputnik’s first White House correspondent Andrew Feinberg penned a truly revealing post for Politico in which he explained that he was fired for asking questions about the Seth Rich story.

You’re reminded that since that story was debunked, a lawsuit has been filed alleging that Donald Trump was directly involved in pushing a manifestly false narrative about Rich’s murder.

Well now, Yahoo News is out reporting that Feinberg was questioned by the FBI for more than two hours earlier this month and has turned over a thumb drive “containing thousands of internal Sputnik emails and documents – material that could potentially help prosecutors build a case that the news agency played a role in the Russian government ‘influence campaign’ that was waged during last year’s presidential election and, in the view of U.S. intelligence officials, is still ongoing.”

Feinberg reportedly downloaded the material onto his laptop before he was fired in May.

“They wanted to know where did my orders come from and if I ever got any direction from Moscow,” Feinberg told Yahoo News. “They were interested in examples of how I was steered towards covering certain issues.”

A spokesman for Mueller declined to say whether this was part of the Special Counsel probe.“We are not confirming whether specific matters are or are not part of our ongoing investigation,” an e-mail sent to Yahoo reads.

But don’t worry, this is all just Russophobia gone wild Sputnik’s editor in chief, Mindia Gavasheli, patiently explained when contacted by Yahoo News. Here’s the hilarious quote:

Any assertion that we are not a news organization is simply false. This is the first time I’m hearing about it, and I don’t think anyone at Sputnik was contacted, so thank you for letting us know.

Mmmm hmmm. I see.

You should read the entire Yahoo piece linked above because it goes into great detail about exactly what’s going on here, but trust us when we tell you that there is nothing innocent about Sputnik.

And that’s not just our opinion. We have our own “sources” which, for now anyway, will remain anonymous.

  1. So slam RT and then quote US propaganda, I mean MSM, “news”, like Yahoo? LOL. Pot meet black kettle.
    You’re both part of the same hypocrisy except that most of the stupid american homeland serfs don’t get it.

    1. something tells me you have no first-hand experience with these Russian propaganda outlets. until you do, you can’t really speak definitively about whether there is a difference between American MSM and RT/Sputnik. Trust us, there is a difference.

      1. No I don’t, fair enuff. Just stuff like Jimmy Rogers regularly on RT in Singapore.
        But I’ve seen too much dubious American MSM stuff lately which, sadly, isn’t considered very objective anymore by me and in many places abroad. So for example, even RT gets more screens than CNNi at many international airports I frequent. BBC even more.
        Trust me. Or don’t, because as I usually say, Trust No One.

  2. In my former conversations with Mr. Irb, I found him to be a happy loner who no longer lives in the U.S. and brags about counting his money and not paying taxes (at least only minimally). He seems pretty clueless on day to day events in America. He does not mention travel, just visiting airports and watching television. He could be hiding from something or someone. Oh, and he does not have a television in his grass hut.

    1. ^ A fitting example of one of the aforementioned american homeland serfs who doesn’t get it.

      Dude, even if I “don’t have a television in my grass hut”, at least I’ve been in that foreign airport. In contrast, your ignorance of the world likely places you among the two-thirds of americans who don’t even fuckin have a passport.

      1. My ignorance of the world?… hahaha! I’ve forgotten more than you will know. Passport, expired. Me, retired. Livin’ the good life. 🙂
