It looks like a combination of the latest London terror attacks, opposition to the still-stalled travel ban, and a general sense of incredulity with regard to the fact that the entire world thinks he’s batshit crazy, has pushed Donald Trump over the edge on Monday.
As documented first thing this morning, Trump is feeling “covfefe as fuck” today as evidenced by a series of absurd tweets lambasting the courts for their reluctance to let Steve Bannon’s Muslim ban go forward. It kinda seemed like Trump might be pissed off at the DoJ as well:
And while he initially took his frustrations out on the judiciary, it was pretty clear where this was headed. Here’s what we said:
[Trump] figured he’d set a positive tone for the work week by interrupting America’s commute with a series of tweets about how the original Muslim ban was a lot more Muslim-ban-ish than that “watered down” Muslim ban 2.0 bullshit.
And in doing so he’s going to prove that unlike the Mayor of London — who Trump basically called a pussy on Sunday, only not the good kind that he would grab — he’s fully prepared to incite a xenophobia-inspired panic.
Well sure enough, this was what came next:
Here’s all you really need to know about this:
US President Donald Trump has again lashed out against London Mayor Sadiq Khan over his assurances to Londoners following a terrorist attack.
Mr Khan had said people would see an increased police presence on the streets and should not be alarmed.
But Mr Trump on Sunday accused him of playing down the threat and on Monday said the mayor’s clarification of his comments was a “pathetic excuse”.
Mr Khan, a Muslim mayor, has previously criticised the president’s travel ban.
We would ask (again) what the reaction in the US would have been had a foreign head of state made similar comments about Rudy Giuliani after 9-11.
This probably sums it up best:
