  1. The Fed wants to telegraph the coming taper in such a way that the event itself is a non-event. So far, seems to be suceeding. As we’ve discussed, the expected reduction in the Fed’s purchases is likely to be matched by the expected reduction in Treasury’s issuance. Powell may be thinking “so far, so good”.
