Trump Sues House Democrats To Block Release Of State Tax Returns, As One Does When One Has Nothing To Hide
On July 8, Andrew Cuomo signed into law an amendment that grants certain congressional committees access to state income tax returns.
The bill, which passed the legislature in May, mandates the release of President Trump's state returns to the House Ways and Means Committee, the Senate Finance Committee and the Joint Committee on Taxation, for any “specified and legitimate legislative purpose”.

Neal should have requested the returns immediately. If the state released them right away, there would have been nothing to enjoin. I think Neal didn’t want to request the state returns because it might make the arguments supporting his request for federal returns less compelling. And the state returns will not provide a complete picture.
Even so, filing a suit doesn’t stop anything. Trump needs to get an injunction to stop the state. While he might get a TRO to allow for argument, preliminary and permanent injections will be an uphill battle.
