At Fascist Roundtable With Bolsonaro, Trump Explains Why He Spent Saturday Arguing With John McCain’s Ghost

Less than a week after hosting Ireland’s openly gay, biracial prime minister (who was treated to a mild dose of crazy during his press time at the White House), Donald Trump welcomed Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro on Tuesday for what we can all just call a fascist roundtable.

Is it a good idea for the US to host Bolsonaro at the White House? Why, no. Of course not.

As Ilhan Omar patiently explained on Tuesday morning, “President Bolsonaro has praised torture, called refugees ‘scum of the world’, compared same-sex adoption to pedophilia, expressed admiration for Brazil’s military dictatorship and called for extrajudicial killings.”

In other words, just the kind of guy Trump can relate to, which is why one of the first soundbites from the pair’s press availability found Bolsonaro explaining that he and the US president “have a great deal of shared values”.

And look, if you don’t believe Omar when it comes to what those “values” actually are, just ask Bolsonaro himself, who will be happy to elaborate. To wit:

Yep. Bolsonaro and Trump were made for each other.

As far as the highlights go, Trump told reporters he’s “very inclined” to make Brazil a non-NATO ally and that trade between the two countries is set to “increase substantially.”

Trump also called it a “great honor” to receive Bolsonaro and he set the stage for the whole thing by tweeting the following to bolster his dictatorial bonafides just hours ahead of the meeting:

Fake News is the absolute Enemy of the People and our Country itself!

Because it’s unseemly to dignify this dubious pow wow by spending more than a few minutes documenting it, we’ll just cut this short and show you the moment when Trump, prompted by a reporter, explains why he spent his entire weekend trash talking a dead man…
