Donald Trump is furious at migrants on Monday morning.
To be sure, he’s furious at migrants every morning, but today is a special case because on Sunday, U.S. border agents fired tear gas at would-be border crossers near Tijuana after a peaceful march designed to persuade the U.S. to speed up the asylum process devolved into a melee.
Just before lunchtime on Sunday, the U.S. closed the port of entry north of Tijuana at San Ysidro when it became apparent that some demonstrators were set to try and make their way into the country by breaching existing border infrastructure.
After that, things went south (no pun intended) in a hurry. While all of the tear gas canisters apparently landed on the U.S. side of the border, the gas wafted down wind, semi-suffocating women and children.

Trump is engaged in a concerted effort to convince the incoming administration in Mexico to go along with his hardline stance on immigration.
This is far from finalized and there are competing reports, but on Saturday, the Washington Post said Trump has convinced senior members of President-elect Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s transition team to require asylum seekers to wait in Mexico while their claims are processed in the U.S.
Meanwhile, Mexico is apparently prepared to deport hundreds of migrants who attempted to cross the border on Sunday.
Undoubtedly fired up after watching Fox News on Monday morning, Trump took to Twitter to call on Mexico to deport all migrants. The President also mocked the travelers for waving the flags of their home countries, something he continues to insist is evidence that they are part of a conspiracy.
“Mexico should move the flag waving Migrants, many of whom are stone cold criminals, back to their countries”, Trump declared, before handing out some free logistics advice:
Do it by plane, do it by bus, do it anyway you want, but they are NOT coming into the U.S.A. We will close the Border permanently if need be. Congress, fund the WALL!
Spoiler alert: Trump is not going to get his wall. As we tried very patiently to explain years ago in these very pages, that wall was never going to be built no matter how many times Trump insisted on it at rallies.
He can forget that, and if just one migrant woman or child ends up getting accidentally shot at the border, he can forget this whole endeavor because Democrats on Capitol Hill will lose their minds.
