Let’s take some time out for a little Wednesday levity, shall we?
On Monday, with speculation about a possible Oprah presidency swirling around following a well-received (and that would be an understatement) speech at the Golden Globe awards, we looked back at Donald Trump’s history of effusive Oprah praise.
In addition to reposting an old Larry King interview that found a younger Trump explaining how his first choice for a running mate would “always be” Oprah, we also reminded you about the following 2012 tweet:
“For his own sake, he better hope that’s not true,” we quipped.
Well according to a new Rasmussen poll, if the 2020 election were held today, Oprah would trounce Trump. To wit:
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 48% of Likely U.S. Voters would opt for Winfrey, while 38% would choose Trump. But a sizable 14% are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
Winfrey has the support of 76% of Democrats, 22% of Republicans and 44% of voters not affiliated with either major political party. The president earns 66% of the vote from Republicans, 12% of Democrats and 38% of unaffiliateds.
So… is there any way we can hold the election today, or no?
One person who ain’t buyin’ those numbers is Trump surrogate Steve Cortes who, in an interview with Fox (of course), had the following to say about 2020:
If Donald Trump has three more years like the year he just had of amazing successes, he can run against a combined ticket of Jesus and the Virgin Mary and he will still win in 2020.
If that is indeed the case, then it doesn’t bode well for a Mike Pence challenge for the Republican ticket. After all, Mike’s just a vessel.
Same pollsters who said Hillary would beat Trump by a landslide? Hoping they are just as accurate this time.
no, actually those would be the pollsters who are known for being the most biased towards Republicans.
