White Supremacist Site Stormfront Seized By Website Host After Outcry

Another one bites the dust.

Two weeks after The Daily Stormer was uninvited from the party we all call “the internet” in retaliation for an absurdly egregious post that branded Charlottesville victim Heather Heyer a “fat, childless, slut,” Stormfront has now gotten the boot as well.

“Stormfront, an international supremacist web forum, appears to have been seized by its website host, Network Solutions, LLC,” USA Today reports, adding that “Network Solutions has also prohibited Stormfront from updating, transferring or deleting its web forum on its own [which] means Stormfront’s web masters cannot re-introduce the site on another domain.”

Boom.

Here’s a bit more color:

Don Black, a former Grand Wizard in the Klu Klux Klan and member of the American Nazi Party, launched Stormfront about 10 years ago as an online bulletin board system. The website had amassed more than 300,000 members on at least four continents before its disappearance.

Black began hosting summits for the online community in East Tennessee in 2010. This year, the group was planning its seventh annual “Great Smoky Mountain Summit”at an undisclosed location near Knoxville. Plans for the summit included appearances by Klu Klux Klan attorney Sam Dickson and David Duke, another prominent former KKK leader.

Taking credit for ending the neo-Nazi destination’s decade-long run is The Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, whose executive Director Kristen Clarke says the nonprofit group “took action against Stormfront [because] their website is a vehicle used to promote racially-motivated violence and hate.”

She continued as follows: “Following our efforts, Network Solutions has pulled the site. And while bringing down one site won’t terminate their efforts, it will make it a little more difficult for white supremacists to sow hatred.”

You’re reminded that Matthew Prince recently penned an Op-Ed for WSJ in which the co-founder and CEO of Cloudflare expresses some trepidation about whether he may have helped put the world on a slippery slope with his role in banning The Daily Stormer.

“Terminating the Daily Stormer is likely to be the exception that proves the importance of content neutrality,” Prince wrote, before lamenting that “my moral compass alone should not determine who gets to stay online.”

Well Matthew, we’ve got some good news for you! It’s not just your moral compass “alone.”

Turns out a lot of people think maybe we should just let sleeping Adolfs lie.

Oh, and to all the alt-Right blogs out there masquerading as something other than portals for xenophobia and bigotry – the writing is on the wall. Your day is coming.

    WIKIPEDIA RESULTS:

Adolf Hitler used ‘Endsieg’ in his book Mein Kampf (My Struggle) in 1925 when he asked the rhetorical question if fate wanted the Jewish people to achieve final victory.

In the 1930s and 1940s, the word was widely used in the propaganda of the ‘Third Reich’. ‘Endsieg’ was part of the Nazi doctrine: Temporary losses notwithstanding, the ‘Third Reich’ would ultimately prevail, and thus any breakdown in allegiance to Nazi ideology was not to be tolerated. This conjuration of final victory became more desperate in 1943 when allied successes forced Germany onto the defensive. Joseph Goebbels still spoke about the ‘Endsieg’ as late as March 1945.[1]

H should take a look at this and determine if he thinks it should remain posted here.

    1. Ooh, it’s Nazi codeword time.

Not to diminish the seriousness of this or anything, but there is something farcical, even comical, about losers and dead-enders from two of perhaps the three most catastrophically unsuccessful political movements in modern history coming together under the banner of a president who promises they will never stop winning again, all in the name of protecting some old artwork.
