Calling Off The Dogs? Bannon Mouthpiece Breitbart Orders Editors To Be Nice To Jared Kushner

This is nothing if it’s not hilarious.

More than a few people have wondered what would happen to Breitbart if/when Steve Bannon is ultimately handed a pink slip and removed from Pennsylvania Avenue. Indeed, it seems likely that if Bannon goes, Breitbart’s coverage of Donald Trump will suddenly become a little less “sunny.”

Unsurprisingly, the alt-Right beehive par excellence recently ran a series of stories disparaging Jared Kushner who, until Friday anyway, was engaged in an increasingly public feud with Bannon who is reportedly in the habit of casting all kinds of aspersions at Trump’s son-in-law.

Prior to a highly publicized “burying of the hatchet” between the two, the Times reported that “Kushner allies had raised the issue with the president of the increasingly unflattering coverage that Mr. Kushner is receiving from Breitbart News, the right-wing website that Mr. Bannon used to run.” These is a screengrab from last Wednesday:

Well now, “someone” (ahem – Steve Bannon – ahem) has apparently called off the dogs. Here’s Business Insider:

Employees at Breitbart News have been asked by senior editors to refrain from writing stories critical of Jared Kushner, two people familiar with the matter told Business Insider.

Soon after the feud spilled out into the public, Trump told Bannon and chief of staff Reince Priebus he was fed up with bickering in the press and instructed the pair to “work this out,” the Times reported.

In the days that followed, Breitbart conspicuously refrained from leveling criticism against Kushner, choosing to lay off Trump’s son-in-law completely.

See this is why I and so many others spend so much time deriding Breitbart. It’s a supermarket rag that’s still controlled by Bannon and has no real allegiance to anything other than the same old racist, bigoted, conspiracy theory-driven message the site’s editors have been pushing from Day 1.

And again, you can expect they’ll turn on Trump and the GOP just as soon as Trump and the GOP turn on Steve Bannon which, as is clearly evident from last week’s events and from comments made by Republican lawmakers, is just a matter of time.
