Yevgeny Prigozhin Might’ve Slipped On A Banana Peel

Yevgeny Prigozhin might've died in a plane crash. Whether the caterer-turned warlord-turned usurper was or wasn't on the Wagner-linked Embraer Legacy 600 which crashed north of Moscow killing all 10 people aboard on Wednesday is in some sense irrelevant. Prigozhin was a dead man walking as of June 24, when he and his motley crew of mercenaries came within 100 miles of Moscow (and within a few minutes of being incinerated by warplanes) in a botched attempt to overthrow Russia's military command.

  1. “My father is no different than any powerful man, any man with power, like a president or senator.”

“Do you know how naive you sound? Presidents and senators don’t have men killed.”

    “Oh. Who’s being naive?”

    1. I know you’re just quoting but, just for clarification, b/c I’m with Kay – There’s a legal framework around presidents and senators killing people. They’re not (supposed to) doing for personal greed or personal revenge and power.

  2. I just went back to my files – on June 24, retired Admiral Stavrides, asked about Prigozhin, said “I give him 60-90 days.” Pretty good call!
