3M CEO Quits On Trump, Says Council Not A ‘Great’ Way To #MAGA After All

Well, for anyone out there that thinks sticking with Trump after Tuesday’s meltdown is a position that history will one day look kindly upon, you should know that you are increasingly isolated.

Because now the CEO of 3M has quit Trump’s manufacturing council.

Here’s the full statement from the company:

#M

Same story here, folks. And read that statement again. 3M has basically just said that Trump’s council is “not an effective vehicle” to make America great again. Oh the irony.

As we noted on Tuesday afternoon, Trump may have mortally wounded himself – politically speaking – with that press conference. It’s hard to see how he’s going to come back from it.

And the thing is, the only conceivable counter-argument one could make with regard to why all of these industry titans are abandoning Trump is even worse for this President than simply admitting that CEOs are disgusted by his bigotry. That is, you might argue that these executives don’t really want to quit, but they’re doing it anyway to avoid the public backlash associated with staying on Trump’s advisory councils. But that’s even worse: because then you’re admitting that Americans are so fed up with this administration that corporate management teams are concerned that people will simply start boycotting their products in protest.

Meanwhile, for all of the folks chastising Larry Summers for spearheading the effort to convince all CEOs on Trump’s advisory councils to throw in the towel, it looks like this is a battle you’re going to lose.

Larry’s “going to win more!” …

Now let’s all sit back and watch as Trump loses the support of the entire U.S. corporate sector.

And then, once that happens and he’s got no advisory councils left, we can all laugh heartily at this tweet:
