History’s Dumbest Oligarchy Implodes
Back in February, when Elon Musk was in the process of commandeering critical US government systems,

Late night talk shows are having a blast. These two clowns trying to out-clown each other.
It sounds like a reality TV show, or maybe a video game. The Apprentice 2.0: Megalomaniacs Edition: “X” vs. “Truth Social.” Let’s get ready to rumble!
Starting to think this is all just kayfabe
Please make it stop.
Both men are mentally deteriorating, Musk perhaps more overtly and rapidly. Compare the Musk of five years ago with today’s version.
In what alternate reality is it rational to risk Space X’s government contracts and permits, TSLA’s robo ambitions, and XAi’s whatever-it-does just because the Reps are doing away with EV credits and mandates? Hasn’t he said TSLA as just an EV car company is worth very little? By all accounts, Musk isn’t even interested in the (manually driven) car business anymore.
Thanks Walt
We can’t come back as a nation from this level of stupid, it is not possible.
I’ll take “Idiocracy” for $1000, Alex.
“But if I have to choose between a silver-spoon, draft-dodging reality TV show host who redefined the limits of “failing upwards” to include the highest office on Earth, and a “red-pilled,” ketamine-addicted, born-again right-winger whose fascination with interplanetary travel may be informed in part by an apocalyptic view of a society he sees as irredeemably divorced from notions of Aryan superiority, I might have to go with the “You’re fired” guy.”
Might be my favorite sentence of all time
Plus one. This situation is absolutely ridiculous.
As disturbing as things are in the USA- due to deranged people being in high positions of power in our country- I don’t believe that this is the beginning of the “end” of the US- as I have known it. We might have to wait until midterms and the next presidential election, but rule of law and sanity will swing back from “idiocracy” to sanity.
At least I hope so. I have to admit, for the first time ever, I have given serious consideration to bitcoin; however, as of now, I am still on the “no” side of that gamble.
Plus two.
It will never cease to amaze me how anybody, despite decades of evidence to the contrary, can still believe Donald Trump will show any loyalty.
I came today for the update and commentary, sidetracked by the need to make sure that I didn’t actually wet myself laughing so hard from just the headline. Well done, H!
Steve Bannon, smelling blood in the water, gives a hint of how bad things could get for Musk. Incidentally, it would be a mistake to underestimate Bannon based on how fast he bombed out of the first Trump administration. He’s a motivated operator, has the president’s ear, and he takes pride in watching MSNBC.
From the NYT:
Stephen K. Bannon, an informal adviser to President Trump, urged the president to start multiple investigations of Elon Musk. Credit…
Stephen K. Bannon, one of Elon Musk’s most vocal critics, said he was advising the president to cancel all of the tech billionaire’s contracts and launch several investigations into the world’s richest man.
“They should initiate a formal investigation of his immigration status, because I am of the strong belief that he is an illegal alien, and he should be deported from the country immediately,” Mr. Bannon, the former top aide to President Trump who is now an influential ally and informal adviser, said in an interview.
[…]
Mr. Bannon said the Trump administration should also investigate Mr. Musk’s drug use, as reported by The New York Times, and his effort to get a classified briefing on China from the Pentagon.
Mr. Musk’s security clearance should be suspended during these investigations, he added
“This just gets better and better,” Musk responded using laughing and crying emojis. “Go ahead, make my day…”
Musk then commented, “Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!”
Only 72 hours before it got to the rape secrets.
Trump is gonna lose this fight. He forgot a cardinal rule of being a mob boss: keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.
“Actually, [it] was the liberation of my country from Nazi dictatorship,” Merz replied.
You picked the perfect closer.
If only the USA could be liberated from our Nazi dictatorship, America would exceptional again.
But really, the reason Elon gives for hating the bill is because there is “too much pork”. And when we use our Nazi to English decoder rings, we can understand what he means is that the bill doesn’t punish enough Americans by slashing social spending.
Musk’s arc is growing parallel to his grand uncle, who was a canadian politician, turned nazi, disgraced and exiled himself to south africa. Maybe Elon’s next move is exile too.
A couple of months ago, Elon had Stupid selling his cars out on the White House lawn for him.
Now, Elon isn’t even allowed to park his own car there.
The conspiracy theorist in me thinks this is just one big ruse between kremlin supporters to cut off starlink to Ukraine.
That was a good response from Merz, thinking on his feet.
Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files,”
No kidding! This is not a surprise or a “bomb”.
Hilariously written but deeply sad in reality. I wish Mr. Musk could just have abstained from the drugs. Mars as a hedge makes complete sense and all the more so with Mr. Trump at the helm in America.
This makes sense?
Mars has wide temperature variations, with daytime temperatures at the equator potentially reaching 20°C (68°F) and nighttime temperatures dropping to -70°C (-94°F) or lower.
Challenging and I am not a rocket scientist so wouldn’t pretend to know about the feasibility; but as a project the idea that humanity won’t be completely annihilated at the press of a button is worth pursuing. It’s genuinely hard to see why many people seem to have a problem with this – probably the problem is more with Mr. Musk and it’s unfortunately protected onto this idea. Enormous amounts of money are spent on much less worthy things. If the actual rocket scientists think it can be done then it should.
Rocket science has nothing to do with living on an uninhabitable planet. The temperature swings aside, Mars’ atmosphere is not suitable for humans or plants to live in. There is effectively no water on the planet, unless you figure out a way to dig 7 to 13 miles under the surface to maybe find a well.
The investment required to build habitats that can survive the weather and sustain human and plant life is unimaginable. And then you have to wonder how many people can live in a man made, likely underground, structure for their entire lives without going crazy.
A lot of things that seemed impossible like going to the moon or creating general AI have turned out to be possible and on the other hand many visions of the future have not panned out, so who knows. Per Clarke’s three laws even the rocket scientists could have it wrong until they try. As a layperson (unless you are a physicist, I guess) the reasonable position to take seems to be that if the idea is morally laudable — and survival of the human species in case Earth meets an existential threat sure seems like it — then support trying it out. So when I see opinion columnists who are not physicists panning the idea out of hand I suspect it is because of Mr. Musk and not because they are well versed in space exploration and the ethics of it.
Trump suggested that his followers buy Tesla stock some time about March 21- when TSLA was trading at $245. Even with yesterday’s 14% drop, the stock is still up from March 21- trading at $285. As any remaining Trump followers (many are older people who still call their broker to execute trades) exit that stock, “look out below”!
And yet in the premarket, TSLA is up 5% at $298. BTD FTW!
This may be the most accurate and appropriate headline you created.
