Revisionist History Funded By IPOs And Forced M&A: A Glimpse Into Post-Democratic Capitalism

In "What’s Really At Stake In November", I described the forthcoming US election as an existential moment for a country that is on the brink of a regressive slide into its less enlightened past. Worse, the US electorate is teetering precariously on the verge of unwittingly acquiescing to soft-authoritarianism with a theocratic tinge. The implications of this for markets, and for the world's largest economy, are not entirely clear, but those interested in a preview of how it all fits together

  1. Getting a daily dose of that last paragraph from all sides this being an especially ugly Election Cycle… Must be herd immunity buildup on my part !! Good post otherwise ..

  2. This is as plausible an explanation as any to explain why Tik-Tok surfaced as such an issue. (Make it something it’s not to benefit oligarchy while also funding re-education camps for American youth.)

Honestly, it’s when topics like this, about tracking data of children that the CCP could use to build segmentation and classification learners on, that I hope in my dreams that the US NSA, sigint, CIA, Five Eyes, and various other arms of US, are behind the scenes eating the lunch of our adversaries. I want to learn one day that US organizations really were operating at the highest levels, post-Snowden, post Windows backdoors, to destabilize the CCP, and other adversaries, and that they were successful in furthering America’s interests while we slept.

  3. Mr. H., thanks for (yet) another top-notch article.
Appreciate your matter-of-fact style of presenting facts.
The quote “Our youth will be taught to love America” should scare the bejesus out of just about anybody, but especially so the anti-socialist faction of the GOP

  4. I see a parallel with the Third Reich. In the later stages they too tried to rewrite history. Sadly the most devoted bought into it’s myths but most Germans were while weary very aware the fantasies were just that fantasies. Is this effort the true Canary in the Coalmine for this administration as even it’s supporters cannot with a straight face put lipstick on this pig.

  5. Isn’t it the conventional wisdom that it’s the “winners” who get to [re]write history? And in Trump’s eyes aren’t we all “losers” and since only he is not fake he gets to say what’s what. As you point out Hitler tried to do this. During the Cold War we would openly laugh when he Russians would tell how one of their guys invented the light bulb or the … something. I also seem to remember they were the last major power to officially abolish slavery. Texas has been rewriting the history books it passes out to its school children for decades. I guess trump just want’s to take his turn in the barrel.
