Trump Spends Sunday Morning Ranting About Comey, McCabe, Mueller – Says Fox & Friends Clears It All Up

Well, Donald Trump is pretty clearly getting nervous about the Mueller probe and at the same time, it looks like the McCabe firing was indeed an attempt to start laying the groundwork to try and short-circuit the special counsel investigation.

Here’s what we wrote on Saturday about the McCabe situation:

As far as the actual reasoning behind the McCabe firing goes, it’s painfully obvious. You can read McCabe’s statement for yourself, but clearly Trump is just trying to undercut the Mueller probe and with McCabe he saw an opportunity to advance that effort while simultaneously stripping a career civil servant of his benefits, a testament to the President’s penchant for puerility and spite.

This move was so transparent (and Trump’s tweets from last year remove any doubt), that anyone with any sense wouldn’t have done it simply because the optics were so horrible and it makes the President look guilty as hell. But we’re talking about a guy who invited Sergey Lavrov and Sergey Kislyak into the Oval Office the day after he fired James Comey – in other words, we’re talking about a President who doesn’t even know the meaning of the term “bad optics” and is so tone deaf that he once told a crowd of Boy Scouts that Washington D.C. is a “cesspool”.

McCabe has hired a lawyer and more importantly, he’s apparently turned over some memos about Trump to Mueller. “Andrew McCabe, the onetime FBI deputy director long scorned by President Donald Trump and just fired by the attorney general, kept personal memos detailing interactions with the president that have been provided to the special counsel’s office and are similar to the notes compiled by dismissed FBI chief James Comey,” The Associated Press reported on Saturday, adding that “the memos could factor into special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation as his team examines Trump campaign ties to Russia and possible obstruction of justice.”

That news came just a short while after John Dowd told BuzzFeed the following about the Mueller probe:

I pray that Acting Attorney General Rosenstein will follow the brilliant and courageous example of the FBI Office of Professional Responsibility and Attorney General Jeff Sessions and bring an end to alleged Russia Collusion investigation manufactured by McCabe’s boss James Comey based upon a fraudulent and corrupt Dossier.

Trump would later chime in on Twitter, saying that the Mueller probe “should have never been started.”

Well fast forward to Sunday morning and, unable to restrain himself or otherwise keep from effectively indicting himself in real-time in front of the entire world, the President was out with this series of absurd rantings:

Clearly, he is beside himself. And clearly, he wants more than anything in the world to figure out how to end the Mueller probe and you should probably go ahead and assume that he’s going to try and do just that in the weeks ahead.

Also note how all he ever talks about is collusion. He never says anything about obstruction of justice or money laundering, etc. That probably means that even he knows he’s likely guilty of something, and I guess what he’s going to try and say is that since Devin Nunes didn’t fund any collusion and because no one has tried to indict him yet, the special counsel probe needs to be put to bed – and preferably now, before Mueller gets ahold of all those documents he just subpoenaed from the Trump Organization.

Again, he’s completely unhinged at this point as you can clearly see from the tweets.

There is absolutely no telling what he might do and when he might do it which, if you can somehow manage to keep your sense of humor throughout all of this, is fucking hilarious.

  1. This falls into the category of “that is not funny that’s sick”. If we had any hope that President Dennison had a modicum of decency and would just resign showing some understanding of the importance of the office (POTUS) but alas, that is not in the cards. This will be messy, seriously fu*ked-up and in the end will probably cost lives.

I laugh everyday at the utter nonsense that this fool has put our country through, the wasted time and treasure just to protect the daily lies, obfuscation and complete gutting of our “held by a thread democracy”. The republicans who have helped in this debacle will not be looked at kindly as history is it’s own writer.

My heart is breaking at how far we have fallen. Rome is truly burning.

Indeed. Were crossing the Rubicon and what once looked like it was comedy is becoming darker by the hour. I do not see any way out now other than our democracy ending up FUBAR. History will indeed not be kind.
