‘Bitcoin Jesus’: ‘Bitcoin Is No Longer A Cryptocurrency’

Jesus. Literally.

Guess who’s worried about Bitcoin? “Bitcoin Jesus,” that’s who.

Following the launch of Bitcoin futures on the Cboe and amid a veritable whirlwind of publicity the launch created on Monday for the crypto space, Roger Ver spoke to CNBC’s Fast Money, and here’s what he had to say:

I think in the short run it can run up a lot more. But it’s no longer a cryptocurrency. It’s just a game of hot potato at this point, and games of hot potatoes can go on for a long time, and lots of people can pump a lot of money into it and it might go on for even decades.

But as far as its [being] used as money, the developers behind that have destroyed that at this point.

I’m really, really concerned about the future of bitcoin.

Jesus. Literally.

Of course these days, “Jesus” is “preaching” bitcoin cash and he thinks maybe you should “give it a use.” His latest Reddit post (which was more than a little derisive) brought out the cat calls. Here are some choice replies:

Roger, you’re gonna be writing a lot more apologies if you keep acting this way.

Roger you can’t complain and lose your temper over people calling BCH by the wrong name and then call BTC ‘cripple coin.’

You’re just asking for it if you continue like that. BTC’s limitations speak for themselves; there’s no need for childish rhetoric.

Au contraire Reddit – there’s always a need for childish rhetoric. Especially when it comes to Bitcoin.

In any event, this back and forth isn’t exactly new, but the interview is, so we thought it was worth posting the video:

Invariably, some readers will deride that as a case of sour grapes, but remember, that’s what people called “Jesus” do – they turn water into sour grapes.

  1. I believe that Brian Ver really is Digital Jesus and only speaks the truth for the common good
Actually no I don’t but let’s not go there
Always look on the bright side of life

Need a good laugh…..watch season finale of TV show “The Orville” and watch them play a game”Latchkam”, that was one game of hot potato I found hilarious., kinda like Bitcoin.

  3. Bitcoin Jesus – preaching from the mound or talking his book?

  5. I have more faith in Bitcoin than I do in Bitcoin Jesus and way more than I do in Bitcoin Cashgrab.

    • well, since you know so much more about Bitcoin than Jesus does, you might ask why you didn’t make $425 million off Bitcoin like Jesus did

      • Well I suppose when I was telling friends and family to invest at $200 I was a bit behind the game but given the whole MTGox and Silk Road stuff was bound to blow up and the aftermath was uncertain I held off until there was the proverbial blood in the streets. It’s not a matter of knowing more than Bitcoin Jesus it is a matter of faith in his character and interests.

Bitcoin Cash may or may not succeed but it is clearly a move to centralize mining further to the benefit of a few, the key issue with that is the code itself must be ever changing and growing and that centralized miner pool will not draw sufficient talent to maintain it. Which is the same reason I would be suspect of any blockchain implemented by the private sector or governments directly.

If success is simply the accumulation of wealth I am not interested in it anyway. Systems that change and shape a more resilient future for mankind is what interests me. There is a distinct possibility that crypto’s will offer that in the long term.
