WaPo: North Korea Secretly Asking Republicans For Help ‘Figuring Out’ Unhinged Trump

Are you having trouble figuring out what Donald Trump is doing?

Or, perhaps more poignantly, have you found yourself unable to contain the urge to ask, perhaps aloud: “what is wrong with this man?

If you’re like us, you might have even asked Trump directly to explain his increasingly erratic and seemingly unhinged behavior. To wit, from this morning:

If that’s you, you probably realize you aren’t alone by any stretch.

Republicans were aghast earlier this month when Trump seemingly caved to “Chuck” and Nancy on the debt ceiling without so much as a hint of his legendary (in his own mind anyway) deal-making prowess. Similarly, Steve Bannon has discovered that even being “the great manipulator” isn’t sufficient to control a man whose CV includes the dubious distinction “WWE Hall of Famer”.

Meanwhile, it’s no secret that Trump’s advisors haven’t met with any success in terms of forcing the President to conform to accepted norms. Indeed it was just last week when the LA Times reported that “senior aides to the President repeatedly warned him not to deliver a personal attack on North Korea’s leader at the United Nations, saying insulting the young despot in such a prominent venue could irreparably escalate tensions and shut off any chance for negotiations to defuse the nuclear crisis.”

Not only did Trump not heed that warning, he appears to have deviated from a speech that was vetted just hours earlier. “Trump’s derisive description of Kim Jong Un as ‘Rocket Man on a suicide mission’ and his threat to ‘totally destroy’ North Korea were not in a speech draft that several senior officials reviewed and vetted Monday, the day before Trump gave his first address to the U.N. General Assembly,” the Times went on to report.

Well, in what is perhaps the most damning evidence yet to support the contention that Trump may be out of his mind, the Washington Post is out reporting that North Korea itself is searching for answers. Just read this and try to keep yourself from laughing:

North Korean government officials have been quietly trying to arrange talks with Republican-linked analysts in Washington, in an apparent attempt to make sense of President Trump and his confusing messages to Kim Jong Un’s regime.

The outreach began before the current eruption of threats between the two leaders, but will likely become only more urgent as Trump and Kim have descended into name-calling that, many analysts worry, sharply increases the chances of potentially catastrophic misunderstandings.

“Their No. 1 concern is Trump. They can’t figure him out,” said one person with direct knowledge of North Korea’s approach to Asia experts with Republican connections.

Yes, Pyongyang’s “No. 1 concern is Trump” and they “can’t figure him out.”  Welcome to our world, Kim – welcome to American hell.

Trump would undoubtedly say this is all part of the plan. He’s always promised to be unpredictable when it comes to foreign adversaries. That was initially welcomed by voters of a war-hawk-ish persuasion, but something tells us this wasn’t what people had in mind.

In addition to underscoring just how dangerous the current standoff between Trump and Kim truly is, this lends credence to the notion that as far as the world is concerned, Kim Jong-Un is actually not the most irrational actor in a game of nuclear chicken that pits a calculating despot against an unhinged, geriatric who has, on any number of occasions, demonstrated a predisposition towards admiring leaders whose regimes are just barely more legitimate than Kim’s.

What can we tell you North Korea? Maybe this: good luck!

  1. Consider an alternative view of the Nork’s panic about Trump. Unlike politicians, who are largely predictable, He is unpredictable and can only be referred to in terms of the moment. His business experience has taught him that to get what you want, you have to put your opponent off guard, off balance, and uncomfortable with his own ingrained perceptions going into serious negotiations. Once North Korea truly believes he is a madman with nukes, they may quit manipulating the West’s fear to get gains in their hidden stock market accounts for national revenue, and personal wealth. Trump has never claimed to be a politician. I expect that soon, they will be dancing to his tune for a change. He DOES need to make sure that the fat boy sweats off pounds and become filled with fear to go along with the loathing. Then, the real negotiations can begin…..

    1. absurd. Trump is a bumbling idiot. he doesn’t have a “plan.” stop trying to act like this is anything other than what it looks like: A fucking retarded, racist monkey in the White House.
