Trump Further Alienates Bannon In Hilarious NYP Interview: “I Like Steve But” Mehh….

Ok, so the writing has been on the wall regarding Steve Bannon’s future at the White House for at least two weeks now.

As it turns out, plotting to overthrow Western democracy and dialing back the race relations clock by a century were both fine, but when you start calling Trump’s family members “cucks,” that’s a “red line” (so to speak).

And so it was that one “cuck” for which Bannon has expressed particular disdain (Jared Kushner) had old Steve summarily booted from the National Security Council. Or so the story goes.

Apparently, a Friday meeting in Mar-a-Lago at which the two agreed to “bury the hatchet” was the only thing that saved Bannon from getting a #MAGA pink slip.

Well fast forward to this week and there’s further evidence that Donald Trump is looking to distance himself from Bannon, who has apparently gone from being the de facto President of the United States to just some “guy” Trump kinda, sort of likes in the short space of three weeks.

Here’s an excerpt from a series of New York Post articles published on Tuesday:

Washington’s rumor mill is working overtime on the fate of presidential aide Steve Bannon, who is said to be at the center of the rampant White House infighting. When I asked the president Tuesday afternoon if he still has confidence in Bannon, who took over the campaign in mid-August, I did not get a definitive yes.

“I like Steve, but you have to remember he was not involved in my campaign until very late,” Trump said. “I had already beaten all the senators and all the governors, and I didn’t know Steve. I’m my own strategist and it wasn’t like I was going to change strategies because I was facing crooked Hillary.”

He ended by saying, “Steve is a good guy, but I told them to straighten it out or I will.”

As we’re fond of reminding readers, it will be interesting to see how long Breitbart stays on the #MAGA bandwagon once Bannon is kicked to the curb which at this point seems all but inevitable.

  1. Man, it must be difficult to be Trump’s friend. First he dumps the Putin bromance at the first sign of trouble and now this. Maybe he should meet with Kim Jong Un to see how the real pros do it.
