Eric Trump Wants To Talk To You About Syria And His Dad

One thing we’ve been pretty adamant about over the last several days is that the public should be wary of attempts to spin airstrikes against the Bashar al-Assad regime as “proof” that Donald Trump has no ties to Moscow.

You know, it’s the whole “when something sounds to good to be true” thing. That is, this is a pretty damn convenient “out” for the administration. “Call us Russian puppets again and maybe we’ll ‘prove’ we’re not by launching a few more Tomahawks.” That’s a little too elegant a counterargument, don’t you think?

Well guess who thinks the airstrikes Trump ordered last Thursday are proof positive that “Kremlin-gate” is a wild goose chase? Eric Trump. Here’s what he told The Telegraph:

If there was anything that [the strike on] Syria did, it was to validate the fact that there is no Russia tie.

There are so many things wrong with that, it’s difficult to know where to begin. For one thing, it suggests Eric is just as arrogant and self-centered as his father. That is, the very last thing we should be concerned about with regard to “that strike on Syria” is what it did for Trump’s reputation.

But beyond that, this is a classic example of “the lady doth protest too much, methinks.” I mean just look at the ridiculous headline:

Putin

Your father lobs 59 Tomahawk missiles at a sovereign state that purportedly just gassed innocent civilians and you imply that the most important thing about it was the extent to which it exonerates your father? Give me a fucking break, Eric.

One person who, according to Eric, wasn’t immediately thinking about what a missile strike on Syria could do to bolster Trump’s image was Ivanka Trump. And this is where it gets even more unnerving. Here’s Eric again:

Ivanka is a mother of three kids and she has influence. I’m sure she said, ‘Listen, this is horrible stuff.’ My father will act in times like that.

So the part about Ivanka not liking to see “horrible stuff” is obviously fine, but the suggestion that the main reason why Trump bombed Syria is because of something his daughter might have said one evening around the dinner table is remarkable to say the least.

And it gets better (or, perhaps more appropriately, “worse”):

[My dad] is a great thinker, practical not impulsive. I’m proud he took that action, and believe me he thinks things through.

But wait a damn minute. You just said your dad likely hit Syria with 59 cruise missiles because Ivanka was upset and then in the very next breath, you say he’s “practical, not impulsive.” Again, what the fuck, Eric?

As for whether you can trust Eric to be an impartial observer, we’ll leave you with one last quote and let you decide for yourself:

Is this nepotism? Absolutely. Is that also a beautiful thing? Absolutely.

    1. Or just the dollar, period, Most administrations have at least attempted to appear ethical but it’s common knowledge that “war pays” (witness the tripling of net worth of Bush, Cheney, & Rumsfeld). This bunch takes the cake. Oh well, maybe the world will be a better place filled with the likes of Eric Trump and Paris Hilton.

  1. Yes, Eric, the least impressive one of Trump’s litter. He really is as stupid as he looks. His father really thinks things through…… the same man who spent a couple of years running on the theme “America First” and all the hoopla that promoted that attitude. Years of seeing horrible war scenes and human suffering and death on TV – and you know Trump didn’t miss a program! Ranting to and about Obama not to spend a dime on retaliation way back in 2013, the last time chemicals were used against the Syrian people and he still was not persuaded from his early form of America First theme. Then one film segment only a few seconds of video of some children and adults suffering from chemical attacks shown about a week ago and he orders $80 million worth of missiles to hit Assad’s (and Putin’s) airport in Syria and does comparatively minor damage after an hour advance notice…..and so the story goes on. Yep, one short video one night and bombs away Trump! He thought it through alright, seize the opportunity to maybe improve his public rating. Quick thinker, that Trump.
