“Unbelievable” That GOP Health Plan Leaves 24 Million Uninsured, Says White House Who Is Being Spied On By Microwaves

If there’s anything Donald Trump and his administration hate, it’s facts.

The thing about facts is that they’re often inconvenient. We all struggle with facts on a daily basis. For example: you woke up this morning and you still weren’t Mark Zuckerberg.

That’s inconvenient.

But you have to kind of soldier on.

Most of us get that. In the immortal words of Del Griffith (John Candy’s character in the classic film Planes, Trains, and Automobiles), “well, I’m still a million bucks shy of being a millionaire”…

But see the Trump administration isn’t willing to accept inconvenient truths and to extend the classic American cinema analogy utilized above, Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price just isn’t willing to accept the fact that the GOP’s Obamacare replacement proposal is going to leave Republicans “still 24 million uninsured people short of Trump’s ‘insurance for everybody’ promise.”

“House Speaker Paul D. Ryan’s proposal to revise the Affordable Care Act would lower the number of Americans with health insurance by 24 million,” WaPo wrote on Monday afternoon, summarizing the Congressional Budget Office’s findings. “Fourteen million people would lose health coverage next year alone [and] premiums would be 15 to 20 percent higher in the first year compared to the ACA.”

As noted above, Tom Price thinks that is “just not believable”:

For his part, Paul Ryan saw this coming. “CBO will say, ‘Well, gosh, not as many people will get coverage,'” he told CBS on Sunday. “You know why? Because this isn’t a government mandate.”

Who to believe? The CBO, or the GOP?

That’s up to you, but we would gently suggest that if you do choose to adopt a skeptical approach to the CBO’s findings, you do your own research rather than taking the White House at its word. After all, this is an administration that just suggested it’s being spied on by microwaves.

Ryan
