Jason Chaffetz Thinks Maybe Poor People Shouldn’t Have An iPhone Like His

So as you’re all probably aware, the GOP has floated a proposal to replace Obamacare.

It’ll be contentious. No one will ever –ever – stop talking about it. No one will understand it. Premiums will probably rise. And the entire nation will end up hating it.

So basically just like Obamacare.

Which makes you wonder why we don’t just save ourselves some time and stick with what we’ve got.

Well when it comes to being sick of sh*t, laughter is often the best medicine (did you catch the double entendre there?) and on that score, Tuesday’s exceedingly bad joke comes courtesy of  Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) who has a simple solution for poor people who can’t afford healthcare. Have a listen:

Upon reflection, Chaffetz decided that maybe that didn’t come out right, so he clarified it as follows:

What we’re trying to say – and maybe I didn’t say it as smoothly as I possibly could – but people need to make a conscious choice, and I believe in self-reliance. They’re going to have to make those decisions.

Right. Some people are “going to have to make those decisions.”

But not Chaffetz. Who is worth three quarters of a million dollars…
